Lately there has been an email floating around that appears to be from the IRS. The email accuses the receiver of under-reporting income and requests the user to take action immediately. Once the email is opened users are prompted to open a “tax statement” that is actually a piece of malware that is very difficult to detect and is designed to transmit information from the infected machine to the virus creator.

We want our users to be aware of this scam and others like it and be very careful not to open attachments from people you don’t typically receive attachments from. When in doubt try to contact the sending party to determine if the message is legitimate.

If you need help ensuring that your anti-virus software is installed and up-to-date call us to schedule an appointment.
